I had such a pleasant appointment with Dr. Minkus at South Coast Family Medicine as I found her to have such great bedside manner and compassion. My low rating is due to the lack of follow-up after I received my lab results. There were a couple of abnormal values that concerned me and when I reached out to the doctor in hopes of receiving a review of the results and discussion, I was met with resistance. The staff at the front desk demanded that I make an appointment in person or a telehealth visit and pay another co-pay fee in order to receive review on my lab results. I have never had to pay an additional co-pay just to have my results explained to me. On top of that, I have attempted to call back 5 times now and still have not been able to reach the doctor. The staff keeps on reassuring me that I will receive a call back and yet, nothing. I am completely disappointed and would love to share this review to others in hopes that you do not waste your time going to a clinic that doesn't care about your well-being.

Unfortunately, nothing is done, and there is no change to help this AWESOME DR. My mom has been going to this Dr. for over 20 yrs, and PLEASE NOTE Dr. Roxana is caring and warm and listens to you. HOWEVER, her staff and administration office is less to be desired. It's unacceptable that they put the patient responsible for following up with hospitals for their result. There is no follow-up with patients, not for appointments, treatments, or hospital results. I hope Dr. Roxanna can receive either additional help or wipe her office and start with a new crew that cares about her patients as she does.

The shortest wait I've ever had was 45 minutes. I've literally waited for over four hours in office to be rushed through my appointment - probably because it was so late at that point, her staff was leaving for the day at 7 p.m. She is much more talk than action. I was told that referrals had been ordered when they hadn't been, I was told she sent both me and my insurance a letter, neither my insurance nor I received these letters. She let me go as a patient because my medical care is "too complex," She subsequentky lied to my home health pharmacists about why she would no longer see me, and told them once that I was no longer a client because I hadn't been to her office in too long (it hadn't been more than 4 weeks), and then it was because I had missed too many appointments (I've only missed one and it was a while ago, while she left the office one day I had an appointment for an emergency, but no one informed me until I showed up. She dropped me as a patient without notifying me, leaving me in an emergency situation where I was without access to vital prescription medication, and the "too complex" issue is mostly because I developed a Deep Vein Thrombosis in my arm and have had to be on Coumadin for an extended period of time, which she didn't even have to handle - I have a team of specialists who have been solely responsible for the monitoring of my blood thinners. In fact, all she really had to do for my "complex" medical issues was make sure my prescriptions and referrals were up-to-date, and my specialists monitor all of the actual stuff. Her main problem is that she just doesn't want to deal with you as a patient if she has to do much work/paperwork on your file. She left me extremely vulnerable as a patient without any regard for my well being. If she had any concern over my well being, she wouldn't have dumped me as a patient when she was asked by my pharmacy for a prescription. Or she could've at least told me the day before my pharmacy called, when I called the office asking for a referral. When I called, I told they'd process the referral and said I didn't need to come in for them to do so, giving me absolutely no indication they had a problem with me as a patient.

Where are us chronic illness fighters supposed to go for care, Dr. Minkus? Why does your practice only take on people who just need checkups and only need you for occasional acute issues. As someone who has a mother with cancer, I'm really disappointed with your lack of concern and communication with your patients. Can you imagine if your mother was treated that way by her doctor? You put my health in jeopardy because of your unwillingness to have a meaningful conversation with me. As a person who practiced medical malpractice torts before I became chronically ill, I find this type of behavior appalling and disappointing. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have given your practice one red cent. I'm still waiting to hear back from your office as to what, exactly, I did wrong and as to why you lied to my pharmacy twice about why you weren't seeing me as a patient anymore.

I'm writing this on behalf of my wife - she made an appointment to go in during her lunch break, and they were so overbooked that there was no chance that she was going to be seen in a reasonable time.

Secondly, they made her wait outside for 15 minutes before someone even came to check her temperature. Very little communication going on between the front staff and the patients, which is not a good sign.

I get that it's necessary to overbook a bit so that the Dr.'s time isn't wasted, but to have a ROOM FULL OF people waiting? That's ridiculous.

If you do make an appointment here - 100% I recommend you call before the appointment and ask how many people are waiting. Save yourself the hassle.

Even during Covid I don't see how this is justifiable - don't overbook that much!

We won't be returning.

Dr. Roxana Minkus herself is a good doctor in my experience. However, her front office staff is the most unprofessional group of girls I've ever come across. They NEVER call back when they say they will and continuously provided me incorrect information. Ever time I would call I would be placed on hold for a very long time. They couldnt answer my questions and avoided the issue at all cost. I was accepted as a new patient, saw Dr. Minkus and was given a referral just to later find out they arent taking new patients and I need to go elsewhere. Mind you, this was 2 weeks after I had already seen her. All information that I had to find myself through insurance. Never did they call to let me know. I had to follow up with these girls to get an answer and was just told "sorry" ...they wasted my time when I need medical attention. I would refer Dr Minkus if she had different staff.

Dr. is great. However the staff is either overworked, under trained or unfortunately dishonest. Staff does NOT do what they say. For years, they rush me off the phone with "I'll ask the Dr then call you back tomorrow." Of course the call never comes. Or, the "Please call back tomorrow (at a specific time) and I'll have it sorted." Then when I call back I get dodged or a continuation.
Sadly, I now expect this lack of professionalism and dread having to deal with her staff. In their defense, ..um couldn't think of anything.
I really like Dr Menkus though. Wish she had a better training system for her staff, and dealing with the truth and patients expectations. Say what you mean and mean what you say! they really don't need to BS people.

Disappointing. She must be burned out. If you are, it's time to either take a long vacation or go check out another field. No compassion. Judgmental. Curt. Snappish. Doesn't care to listen. I took the time to put together records for her review. Didn't even bother looking and commented that she didn't need it. I cried the way she treated me into two separate visits. I hope God will change your heart again.
