My whole family went on this trip for a wedding- 4 different groups stayed at Sonesta ES Suites in Fountain Valley. Very nice suites, good space with the 2 bathrooms which came very handy for the family BBQ we had in their outdoor space. My kids enjoyed the pool. And our breakfast time was awesome, my lived their pancake maker!! Pretty cool.
I will definitely look for these suites next time I travel!!

Unacceptable Hygiene Standards, No Resolution from Staff

We are writing this review following a deeply disappointing experience during our stay in September. We discovered a dead cockroach underneath our bed, which is completely unacceptable, especially as we have a 2-year-old who nearly picked it up. This was a horrifying moment, and we immediately reported the issue to the staff. However, nothing was done to address our concern—not even an apology.

The lack of response from the hotel is unacceptable, and we are leaving this review until the issue is resolved and our family is appropriately compensated. The hygiene and service standards must improve for the sake of future guests.

This version is clear, detailed, and conveys the seriousness of the issue while being professional.

If you’re looking for a place that is freeway close, this is it! You can see, hear, smell, and even feel the speeding traffic. Hope you’re not a light sleeper.||It wasn’t especially clean either. Breakfast is included, but hurry, because it’s only available until 9:00.||It is nice to have a full-sized fridge, oven, and dishwasher. Having two bedrooms was extremely beneficial, and each room has a TV. The shower head was mounted to the wall, and my female fellow-travelers were rather unhappy.||The prices are competitive. But, there are better places for the money, even if it costs you a bit more.

The hotel is currently being used as a permanent residence for men with government vouchers who would otherwise be without a home. The permanent residents there smoke cigarettes inside their rooms, which caused smoke to constantly infiltrate the room I stayed in.

The room carpet was dirty and worn. The hotel charged $10 per night for parking in their dirty lot that had tons of open spaces.

The noise from the freeway was so loud, it was difficult to sleep.

The overnight clerk was rude and had an attitude.

The room keys quit working after one use.

I normally would not complain about a hotel, but this one was pricey, and at that price should be better.

I definitely would never stay here again.

Positive: Very spacious room and located close to all amenities. Negative: I wish it had an elevator. I don?t like bring in the ground floor because there?s less privacy. I always ask for a top floor.

Positive: The room was large and clean. Negative: The internet was awful!! called several times to try to rectify the issue. I was assured the problem was being resolved, but it never was. Didn't like walking out the door and ALWAYS smelling cig smoke.

We stayed here for a baseball tournament and this was one of the worst hotels I've ever experienced. We were forced to stay here by the tournament organizers and now I know why. The room was absolutey filthy to the point of not wanting to take off our shoes while inside. The rooms smelled of stale smoke and animal urine. We checked in and were told the internet wouldn't work in our specific room. A day or so later we had a maintence man come and change out our carbon monoxide detector because it was expired in 2020 and was going off. The same day we found a roach in one of the bedrooms but were told there were no free rooms to move us to even tho online they showed availability. The bathrooms were dirty and bugs in the tub. I could go on and on. The room was definitely big enough for our family of 5 but that was basically the only positive.

The room smelled of dog urine and we had to leave our windows open or the smell was unbearable. We were not the only ones from our group to experience this. We were there for a tournament (at least three other groups were there as well) for just under a week. They appeared short-staffed or didn't prepare for the large groups. Anytime you needed something for your room you would have to get it at the front desk. We needed fresh towels, and we were required to turn in our dirty towels to the front desk before being provided with new ones. We were told that "our group" had taken all the pillows so we would not be able to get one for our son who was in staying on the pull out couch. On a daily basis our key cards had to be reset at the front desk because it would not work on the hotel door. To top it off when I received my credit card statement and there was an unexplained $50.00 charge from the hotel. I was not told about any additional charges and I checked out in person with the front desk. This hotel needs a refresh from the damage done by animals, it really is too bad because the room size is nice and it is in a convenient location.
